Angus Fisher: Angus grows on the flats of Terara by the Shoalhaven River. Formerly certified organic, he tells us he still follows organic principles, and supplies Green Box with oranges. He also has potatoes in the ground, which he will start to harvest in December.

John Fisher: John is a Demeter-certified biodynamic grower from Emery’s Plateau, up the mountain between Bomaderry and Kangaroo Valley. Over winter, John supplies us with cauliflower and broccoli, while his summer harvest include corn, capsicum and eggplant.

Greengold Vegies: Robert and John Boyd proudly call themselves the largest growers of vegetables in the Shoalhaven district. Over winter they have been supplying us with cabbage, broccoli, leek, rhubarb and peas, and for the first time are now growing mushrooms. When the weather warms up we stock their zucchini and beans.

Li-Sun Mushrooms, Mittagong. These amazing mushrooms are grown in a disused railway tunnel in Mittagong. Tours of the tunnel were highly sought after during the Herald’s Good Food Month and tours run periodically through the year (see their website).

Shoalhaven Mushrooms: Down at Termeil, south of Ulladulla, Gary and Michelle Akers grow a range of white mushrooms (button, medium, cup and flat) and Swiss browns. Unlike many of their mainstream counterparts, Gary and Michelle tell us they don’t spray their mushies, which still last beautifully in a brown paper bag in the crisper section of your fridge.

Glenlee Olives: Trish and David Wilson have over 7000 olive trees on their historic property at Menangle Park. Immediately after harvest, the olives are processed into extra virgin olive oil in the modern press on the property and table olives are processed onsite.
